Adding multiple IPs to NIC disables 'Domain' Profile of local network.
Hello, I have multiple PCs connected at my office. They are all running Windows XP except one new one, which is running Windows 7.
They are all setup the same, where each has 2 different sets of IP information assigned to the same NIC. One set 192.168.0.X is for my local network and surfing. 142.149.X.X for connecting to the local Gov't's private WAN for certain services. There are
then Persistent routes added to direct the Govt traffic over the 2nd network.
Problem is: When I add the 2nd IP information 142.149.X.X to the NIC in my Windows 7 PC it has local/doman connectivity problems. Shared drives appear disconnected, when I try to open them, they ask me to login using my domain credentials, then I can open
them. This happens after every reboot.
Also, after adding the 2nd IP info, and trying to add routes, my default gateway of 192.168.0.200 goes missing. Network IP4 adapter settings will show no gateway.
Then, the Network Sharing Center shows that I'm connected to a 'Public' network. If I manually add the Gateway back in, then wait, I can surf again. The 'Network' is no longer 'Public', it just shows 'Network' rather than my domain like it should.
